Pope Francis announced on 14th May 2021 that Msgr Anthony Ireland and Fr Martin Ashe, senior priests in the Archdiocese of Melbourne, will serve as auxiliary bishops of the Archdiocese. Msgr Ireland and Fr Ashe join the archdiocese’s other auxiliary bishop, Terry Curtin, in supporting Archbishop Peter A Comensoli in Australia’s most populous diocese.
Msgr Tony is a familiar face in St Brigid’s as he has celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation here over many years. Congratulations to Msgr Tony and Fr Martin!
